| FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE In the project space: The gallery is pleased to announce a new sculptural installation by Brooklyn-based Hilary A. Baldwin. At night, I passed a wall being built under a fluorescent plumb-line, one stone stacked upon another. Where the string was held taut by a wooden stake at the end of a half-finished row, a stray beam from a streetlight illuminated a crushed can of generic brand orange soda, and I felt implicated in some mysterious unfolding plot. Knowing the mood would be broken by dawn, I gave in to an urge to pick up the soda-can and take it home. This work is comprised of objects and text recreated from my archives of found things. Searching for reference materials in bus stops, outdated catalogs, construction sites, kitchens, amd roadsides, I am drawn to those things that stick in my head without apparent reason. As a test of what makes an object unforgettable, I offer for scrutiny these groupings of varyingly forgotten things. - Hilary A. Baldwin Hilary A.
