    MICHAEL BERRYHILL

Rooted in the process of drawing, Michael Berryhill's paintings and works on paper render fantastical (and sometimes grotesque) imaginative realms with an impressive graphic inventiveness and clarity. Spanning stylistically from figurative narrative to freer abstract elements, he simultaneously incorporates fragments of historical and contemporary imagery, high and low culture, and personal history to create a sense of distorted normalcy.

Michael Berryhill (b. El Paso, TX) lives and works in Brooklyn, NY and Austin, TX. He received a BFA from the University of Texas, Austin and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Skowhegan, ME. His work has been featured in exhibitions at Okay Mountain, Austin; Blutenweiss Gallery, Berlin; and Arthouse, Austin, TX; among others. His New York debut will be at SUNDAY in November of 2008.
